pH INDEPENDENT SYNTHETIC THICKENER FOR WATER BASED SYSTEMS
1.Features & Benefits
- DeCAL 1200, a conveniently used liquid, is an anionic polymer dispersion in mineral oil used as a general-purpose thickener giving short flow rheology across a wide pH range.
- DeCAL 1200 is supplied in a highly concentrated form so providing good viscosity at low concentrations.
- DeCAL 1200 offers improved electrolyte tolerance when compared to traditional alkali swellable emulsions.
2. Typical Properties:
- Appearance white liquid
- Active polymer 60%
- Liquid carrier mineral oil
- Freeze thaw very high stability
- Rheology thixotropic
3. Application: DeCAL 1200 can be used as a thickener and rheology modifier for many aqueous adhesive, paint and coating compositions, and requires no pH adjustments for activation when used within the range 4 - 11. DeCAL 1200 is particularly effective in low solids sytems to prevent settling, such as shed and fence paints.
4. Incorporation. DeCAL 1200 is active over a wide pH range (4 - 11) and requires no additional alkali. The product should be added directly to the coating mix with high efficiency mixing in order to avoid localised thickening. If necessary dilution with the carrier oil can aid addition. DeCAL 1200 will generally thicken quite rapidly, but the rate of activation is dependent upon temperature, speed of mixing and medium to be thickened.
5. Safety & Handling: DeCAL 1200 should be handled in accordance with good industrial practice. Detailed information is provided in the Safety Data Sheet.
6. Storage: DeCAL 1200 is very freeze thaw stable. Storage above 5°C is recommended to avoid thickening and maintain easy handling of the product.
