DeCAL 4011 is a novel thermoplastic acrylic copolymer in solution form offering excellent binding power, adhesion and gloss. DeCAL 4011 finds use in a wide range of applications ranging from water based paints, adhesives, inks, ceramic binders and paper coatings.
1. Typical Properties.
- Appearance Hazy colourless liquid
- Film Properties Hard & brittle
- Chemical nature Sodium salt of acrylic copolymer
- Solids 30%
- pH 8.0
- Viscosity 2000 - 6000 mPa.s Brookfiels RVT 10rpm
2. Solution Properties. Solutions of DeCAL 4011 remain hazy and colourless above pH7 although some polymer precipitation can occur at reduced pH. The addition of a small amount of water will result in a marked reduction in solution viscosity. 3. Film Properties Films of DeCAL 4011 are both clear and glossy and hard and brittle. Water resistance is very limited and dry films are readily attacked by water and alkalis. As such DeCAL 4011 finds use in both temporary protective coatings and applications in the paper industry where repulpability is an issue. Improvements in water and alkali resistance can be achieved through the use of a suitable crosslinking agent.
4. Safety & Handling: DeCAL 4011 should be handled in accordance with good industrial practice. Detailed information is provided in the Safety Data Sheet.
5. Storage: Whilst DeCAL 4011 is an extremely stable product it is recommended that it is protected from frost.
